What is ideal bolt bolt length to hold frame together? M6 bolt, how long: 10cm or 12cm to be safe? Thanks

That is what for my wife made for us the SolidWorks assembly winking smiley I could never remember what length at what place. It is actually not important but too long look bad smiling smiley
Ø6 I took based on the available bearings. Actually the bolts could be 3mm. Bigger bearings are good for the belt not to break. Please have freedom in your choice and exchange experience.

So you have a 6.5mm diameter hole 1cm down the aluminum square. Doesnt sound too good: 10mm - 3.25mm = 7mm of space!
But this is correct?
And then turn it sideways and make holes 3cm down.

No, I dont have easy acces to solidworks, will try to import into autocad. When I have frame cut I will see to placing of holes.

How easy is it to replace the aluminum tubing with 5mm/8mm piping or metal rod, and use 628ZZ or 624ZZ bearings?

Well it will be interesting to see and why not. Personally I have so much materials I will use for 5 printers and have no interest to investigate further modifications which are definitely possible. Please try and share with us your findings!

Perhaps I need a good definition of what is a high quality, what are the criteria and how to measure - then I will gladly report.
I started with speeds of 20 and 50 mm/sec all last year (you can see many video about that in +ShaukiBagdadi).
I was limited with the low speeds because of having to accelerate the 300 gram of the gantry stepper + 300 gram of the extruder stepper traveling on the gantry.
And I was also very young in this field and had fear to experiment.
After I mounted the extruder to the frame I saw the possibility to drive faster and realized that increasing print speed will not damage anything - only the printed part will be with lots of wholes, but no mechanical damage can happen. So with high speeds I found no reduction of the quality I got when I started crawling.
So yes, I did start walking before getting the courage to run.

Ok. I agree.
More exactly I mean "good looking" insteed of "quality". Means nothing for techical purposes.
But what about printing f.e. sculpts?
When you print you parts at 50mm/s are they significaly better looking?
I consider to build my third printer and want it to be big.
I saw pics of Ingentis prints. They are good for me. But I don't think it's reasonable to scale it up to 1 X 1 X 1m

Then we have different interests, but you can be happy: QR prints are good looking, but I am interested in mechanically precision parts for technical applications and I am also getting it from QR.
Ingentis has a big community, QR is just startin: it is your choice to stay in "Europe" or try your luck in "America" winking smiley
