First timer

Hello,

New to RepRaping, just discovered it a few weeks ago! Looking to build a Ponoko model and had what may be a foolish question but I have to start somewhere. When I go to produce the design it asks for materials, I am using the acrylic plastic however I am not certain of which widths to use. The titles of the different files are not in sync with the sizes available so I am thrown.

I'm not an engineer type however I am confident I can build this and more importantly spread the word!

My budget is open so if there is a wiser solution to building my Darwin please share with me. Thanks for any help you can offer.

I believe that the Mendel version is nearly complete. I personally am building the Mendel. Also the electronics for Mendel are backward compatible with Darwin from what I understand.

Thanks for the update. I also would like to progress to the Mendel, that said I have ordered a Cupcake CnC model from Makerbot. I think this will give me an opportunity to gain some experience and at the same time give me a tool to try more advanced models. Appriciate the input, I didn't know the Mendel was so far along.

It isn't. It's getting to the point where a couple of variations on that theme are going to get made and tested. That's all.
