E3D warping

Hi all,

I recently upgraded my i3 printer to an E3D v5 all metal hot end.

Since then I have problems with the first layer warping and detaching at the corners from the bed on larger objects.
I have a hunge that this is caused by the air flow from the cooling fan of the hot end blowing over my hot bed.

I am printing abs at 240 degrees, 110 degrees hot bed.

Has anybody got similar experience?

Thanks Eric

Probably, thats why people with Magma hot ends run a fan with ducting to channel the air around the hot end but not on the part.

After buying E3D i found out that supplied thermistor is showing whole 20C more than actual( checked with digital thermometer) if selected no 1 in marlin, number 6 is actually very close. So check actual temperature if you can or just print hotter and see if there is a difference.

I've encountered similar situation with other hotends that needs active cooling. What I did was simply "kapton tape" a duct to prevent the air from directed towards the bed.

Read this article, it includes a re-designed fan duct for the E3D to channel airflow away from the print. I just kapton taped a duct on mine since the duct from the link didn't fit right for me.

Thanks, printing that duct with a temporary duct out of kapton right now...
