Hi guys

Looks like I fried the 5v regulator on my Arduino mega

Yesterday it was running fine while doing tests but when I turned the printer on this morning the LCD would not come on

I plugged my laptop to the computer and it came back to life.

When I unplug the pc it goes dead again

I did some reading and found this to be the faulty part [www.digikey.ca]

Did I do something wrong? is there a sequence to follow...plugging the laptop before putting power to the ramps? ect...

Or is it just bad luck?

Hi guys

I plugged my laptop to the computer and it came back to life.

Not sure I understand that..

Anyway, it matters not which order you plug things in - power supply first or Arduino first. Has your regulator definitely failed - have you psychically eyeballed it to confirm?

Haha no wonder you don't understand, it doesn't make sense!

I meant to say: I plugged my laptop to the PRINTER and it came back to life
To be honest I did not check yet the output of the Vreg yet but i am 99.9% sure this is the problem

I'll physically check tonight when I get home

Ok I confirm the problem was with the voltage regulator.

I just replaced it and the printer came back to life

I bought 3 regulators through my wife at her workplace: Cost me less than 2 dollars! smiling smiley

Case closed
