Hi all,

Im trying to print a prusa i3 Y corner and i'm having some issues as seen in the pictures. The main thing is how out of line the part is as it moves up. If anyone can give me some pointers it would be much appreciated. Thanks

It is printed on its default orientation from the prusa repository.

Infill:0.2
Speed: 60
First Layer height 0.2
All other layer height 0.3

Nozzle: 0.5
Filament 3mm

looks like there may be multiple issues.
under current on the motor - missing steps
print temp too low
belts not tight enough
loose hot end
printing too fast

those are the things ro start with...

I'm not as experienced, but my first instinct was it being too hot.

Hi all,

thanks for taking the time to respond, much appreciated.

I made a mistake in my first post, it wasn't 60 mm/sec for speed it was 30. I slowed down a bunch of parameters and the results are much much better!

2 issues remain:

1. Theres a small gap where the M8 rod goes (see 'gap' pic)
2. There are burn marks on the PLA.(see 'burn' pics)

For #2 i suspect that slowing down from 30mm/sec to 20 is causing the filament to stay in the nozzle to long and burning on slow extrudes. Llowering the nozzle temp should solve this, these were printed at 180 degrees Celsius, maybe 175 is in order?

Any ideas for these 2 issues ? #1 is a headscratcher for me because the rest of the part prints really well.

The machine is a prusa i3

Hm. I can say that some hotends are really bad at telling temp. On my Solidoodle, pre E3D upgrade, I printed PLA at 162C and got near perfect prints [I'm now having to rediscover how to print with my E3D, entirely different world and settings]. Turn your printer on and heat up the hotend to 150C and try and push your filament by hand, increase by 5C each until it reaches the point that turning it up doesn't change how well it flows, that's your temp.
