[SOLVED] Prusa Mendel i3 y axis reversed?
May 22, 2014 03:07AM
Hi folks,

In Configuration.h, I set the variables as follows:
#define INVERT_X_DIR false // for Mendel set to false, for Orca set to true
#define INVERT_Y_DIR true // for Mendel set to true, for Orca set to false
#define INVERT_Z_DIR false // for Mendel set to false, for Orca set to true

but it appears that the y axis is inverted. I wanted to do a sanity check:

The y axis increases going away from the motor, correct? So for example, in this picture:
[reprap.org]

The y axis increases going out of the picture towards the viewer, and decreases going into the picture away from the viewer, is that correct? Thanks!

Take a look at the still from the first youtube on RepRap wallace -- It has a sketch like this in the plate's front left corner:

Y
^
|
|
|
|
+------------> X

The +y on the parts stuck to the plates is towards the back/into your picture, while the plate itself moves out towards the front/out of the picture..

thats correct the endstop for the y should be at the back so from the front view your bed should move to rear where the motor is when homed, so when the bed comes towards you its plus +++++++++++
