Something seems to be wrong with my steppers :/
June 07, 2014 10:50AM
At the moment i am trying to build my own delta printer.

I use Repetier Host and Firmware, and today i wanted to du my first dry run test.
So i hooked up my RAMPS board to my stepper motors an hit the home button.
The result you see in the video

extreme strange sound and very slow movement :/ something like 10cm/minute
i will make a video asap

further info:
1/16 microstepping
RAMPS board
all motors are effected
Latest Repetier Firmware, nothin else connected at the moment, just 3 x/y/z-Motors, Power Supply and USB

i have already gone through this list, but it is none of this issues.

It moves, but it moves extremely slow.
Meanwhile i tried Marlin FW, and there the motors move as expected.
Any idea what i could have done wrong with repetier?

Steps per mm calibrated in Repetier?
I don't know deltas, or even if they have steps per mm, but that sounds like a common problem with those who switch to Repetier. I don't know what it is about the mentality of new Repetier users but it doesn't seem all too uncommon to put in the wrong steps per mm.

Hi,

Repetier FW:
#define XAXIS_STEPS_PER_MM 80
#define YAXIS_STEPS_PER_MM 80
#define ZAXIS_STEPS_PER_MM 80
calculated from [calculator.josefprusa.cz] 16Teeth T2.5 1,8° stepper set to 1/16 steps
afaik this should be fine for my setup.

btw Marlin with the same steps per mm moves the steppers as expected :/ strange

maybe something is wrong with
#define HOMING_FEEDRATE_X 40
#define HOMING_FEEDRATE_Y 40
#define HOMING_FEEDRATE_Z 2
?
2 seems strange to me, but this was default from the repetier wizard :/, but changing HOMING_FEEDRATE_Z also to 40 changes nothing :/

Changeing the values via gcode, solved the problem, now the movement is like i should be, but i gone through the config wizzard from repetier now multible times, an i cant find any error, may this be a bug in the wizard?
The Only problem that remaines is that the movement is still extremely slow after i hit the "Y-10" button in the GUI, but dry run works now.
