Mechanics Mostly Finished

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to share a photo of my RepStrap progress (and my messy workbench). I'm mostly done with the mechanical aspects. There is still some tweaking to do, but now I will switch focus to getting the electronics going.

I have to say, if I were doing it again, I probably wouldn't go this way for a bootstrap machine. I think I'd start with a Contraptor (http://www.contraptor.org/ ) and modify that for this purpose.

Since I'm behind on the schedule I had set for myself, I had decided to buy an extrusion toolhead. But Makerbot has been out ever since I've been looking to buy one. So, I'm going to post a message in the classifieds portion, but I'm also going to figure out how to build it myself, I guess.

Thank you, everyone, for all the information available and the encouragement.

Nice looking machine! Send me an email at wbortz at gmail dot com if you'd like a set of RP parts for my extruder - maybe we can work out a deal.

She is SWEET looking, how did you deviate from standard build?

Thanks!

It's pretty much a standard build... just done with less precision or skill. smiling smiley
