What is the cheapest RepRap that I could build?

I have a Printrbot, and I love it. I also really want a second printer, but this time I want one that is truer to the RepRap goal (example: printed parts rather than a wood frame). What is the cheapest RepRap that I could build? I could 3D print parts for it if that makes a difference. I am also looking for a good place to get replacement parts like stepper motors for a good price.

How about a Prusa i3?

What is the minimum I can pay for this printer using 3d printed parts?

Also, is there a complete singular parts list?

you can build it for around 200 usd if you use ebay parts.
i got mine for little more but with 3mm ful lasercut frame(no threaded rods on frame, payed 2 beers) and i use e3d hotend wich is little pricier then ebay hotends

you can see it in repprappers forums.

Ok. Is this a good value?
Re: What is the cheapest RepRap that I could build?

Well that depends on what you value. Almost everything in that kit could be bought at a hardware store for about 3/4 of what they are charging. But, there is lots of value to having all the parts assembled together for you. In the Time/money/quality equation what is your priority?

Thanks Mike

Money is my main priority.

In that case I would find a SAE (provided you are in the US) parts list and head down to Lowes/Home depot Parts doing a quick online shopping trip I end up with a total of $60-65 and a lot of extra parts. You will have to source the bearings belts and pullies oneline.

Thanks Mike

Smartrap. Around 200. The only downside is that it is very similar to your printrbot.

$200 to build. Folgertech has good prices for parts.

Can I get any NEMA 17 stepper motors?

I looked at the Smartrap, does not look quite as good as the Prusa i3.

Are the hardware kits universal? I see hardware kits for Prusa Mendels without a specific iteration.

Is this compatible with the i3? Description says it is for the i2.

Well sort of. Most of those parts can be used on either printer but the quanties will be off the kit you are looking for is I3 bolt kit.

I would still hit my local hardware store for most of those. I might pay a bit more but when you add in shipping costs and extra time I think i come out ahead.

Thanks Mike

I have tried going to my local hardware stores included Lowes and Home Depot. Whenever I ask for a specific part, they never have it. I think I will get the kit you suggested. Thanks

I keep seeing the rework frame when looking for parts. Is this the same as the single frame? I know the difference between the boxed and single.

The original "single frame" design uses aluminium and is 1 piece. Most "rework" frames are the same frame size but are made from plywood, MDF, acrylic etc and have 2 extra braces and 1 longer Y-Frame threaded rod. Unless you know someone with a water jet cutter a plywood/MDF/acrylic laser cut frame will be cheaper. The Z motor mounts and z top pieces will fit either.
With the laser cut frame with braces you will need to make sure the slot in the brace will fit the Y-Frame threaded rod size. The "sgraber" frame is for vanilla Y-Corner pieces that use 8mm, while the "rework" design Y-Corner pieces use 10mm.

I do want cheap, but I had already ordered those other belts. Thanks. AliexPress looks like a great supplier for 3D printer parts.
