Heatbed shuts off after a few seconds on

So I just got this device to work, but the heatbed shuts off uncontrollably. I noticed that it is the power going into the heatbed and not the heatbed itself. I'm building the Prusa i2, using ramps 1.4. ideas on where I can search for the problem.the software doesn't seem to tell it to shutoff so it doesn't seem like this is the problem. Ideas?

What kind of PSU are you using? It sounds like it's being overloaded either because it's inadequate or there's a short. The other likely causes are loose terminal connections, a bad MOSFET or a bad solder joint at the MOSFET. Be careful though, a loose connection could cause a fire.

Well to be fair, all my connections are secure, but shaking the wires that connect to the heat bed is probably loose, so I will check that, thanks!

Update, well I found that the wire was loose but that wasn't the problem. It still shuts off rather quickly

Update: I installed a fan to see if the heating would be the problem but it isn't the problem. I think it may be a short on the ramps. Any way to check this?
