x axis missing steps

x axis missing steps

I posted this in the Repetier section but have not had a reply.

I am out of ideas, so would appreciate suggestions as to what would cause missing steps across the x axis:

I am using both Repetier firmware and Repetier Host on my OrdBot.
It was working OK but something has recently caused prints to move sideways along the x axis. May have been something I have done. When I do a test cube it happens after a few layers. After each 3 or 4 layers, suddenly the print is displaced by about 1 cm to the left.
I don't know why it is missing steps. It has me stumped. I re checked the voltage on the stepper driver. I set it on 0.32v.
I swapped over the x and y stepper drivers. I have re configured the firmware and reduced the x speed and acceleration settings.

I previously had a problem with my z axis but found settings that work after taking advice on here.
my y axis seems fine.

I had progressively reduced the x axis settings. Current firmware settings are :
xy jerk 10
x travel speed 250
travel accel 250
print accel 250

Tried varing eeprom settings and Repetier Host settings all to no avail. Nothing seems to work.

Try turning the trimpot on the X axis driver down a tad, or improving the cooling on that driver.

Andrew,

I turned the trim pot down on the stepper driver. I am using G3D drivers with nema 17 motors. There are actually two trim pots on the driver. I set the ref voltage to 0.32v.... no effect. I then physically changed over x and y drivers ....... no effect.
The drivers run very cool. Cool enough to touch since I fitted a solid state relay to control the bed.

Max amps say 0.4A for nema 17

ref. volts = 0.4A x 8 x 0.1 = 0.32v

The motors do not buzz.

Keep the suggestions coming. Can't print anything at the minute.
