NEW to reprap and I have an aurora Prusa Reprap i3 QUESTIONS!!!!

so uh how do I set the m502?

Looks like repetier is asking me to pay to download it. I am not up for that option. I just invested 400 in this machine and I don't want to fork out anymore. Is there anywhere else I can get it from? Do I install it to my printer?

You don't have to donate if you don't want to I use it so I have donated but even then if I want to change something in my config thru the online it asks again and you just have to select to go straight to the download section at least to trial it anyway?

arg I see that now. So once I download the firmware how is it installed to my machine? Does it use a wizard to find the usb connection or is there some other way?

You will need the Arduino IDE software and I think there is a good instruction set on Reps page that will walk you thru it (it is the Firmware drop down Instalation)

so uhm I clicked on the firmware and im clueless its asking me to upload a file or fill in drop down boxes. I just don't know which boxes I need or do not need and what to fill them in with. I know you gave me a list of stuff but I have no idea what those values mean or what to use. im beginner or "newb" level with this stuff. As I'm sure you can tell.

OK lets see if I can help you how many teeth are on your Pulleys and what is the pitch of your Z Leadscrews?

No clue how to even answer that. it was not in the information provided in the kit. I would have to completely break the printer down to count the teeth. and for pitch not even 1 iota on how to find that information.

basically this kit was supposed to work out of the box so I did not expect to be this far into things. programming is above my head I'm a cable guy.

by cable I mean ethernet and fiber cables.

Pitch can you tell the diameter of the screw (it will prob be 8mm) and then I need the distance between the edges of one turn of the thread it will probably 1.5 or 2 mm and also if the screw is a 1 start or 4 start thread (look down on the screw and see how may thread start you can see)

Don't worry we will get you there tho it may have to be later as I need to go to a fault soon?

yes the screw for the z axis is 8mm I know that much that was in the parts list. im guessing it is 2mm. its about the thickness of a postcard between each spiral.thread on the z axis. Looking down it maybe 1 but honestly I have no clue there what im for sure looking at.

"what is this" "where is that" "how does that work" etc etc. it will take me a bit few mins for pics as I need to scale them for use on the forum on tinypic.

damn thing still wont print right. It doesn't stop when the z limiter switch/end stop is hit. I have tried everything to get it working.

It keeps printing to high off the bed. I ran the Cura leveling wizard and it didnt really fix anything but the bed should be way more level than before. I think all the shaking threw it off a bit. Any ideas?

That apparently is a megatronics V2 clone but in the Arduino it is a mega2560

Doug I uploaded your firmware but now my Speaker on my LCD screen is going off constantly! It is like a fire alarm. I had to turn off the power entirely to kill it. What is wrong?

So I performed these step.

Compilation instructions




1. Install Arduino IDE
You get the latest Arduino IDE here:
[arduino.cc]

You need at least 1.0 for the Atmel AVR based boards and 1.5 for the ARM based boards like the due.



2. Make sure the serial driver for your printer board is installed. The Arduino IDE contains signed drivers
for the Arduino boards. Depending on your board you might need different drivers then these. For Linux and Mac
you often do not need any additional drivers. Ask your printer/board vendor which driver you need,
if that is not clear to you.




3. Some boards that are not original arduino boards and not 100% compatible to them, need separate extensions
to the Arduino IDE. Install them.




4. Start Arduino IDE and open the file "Repetier.ino"




5. Select the board and port for upload in the arduino ide.



(SKIPPED NOT knowledgeable enough to check that ) 6. Check Configuration.h for hints, if something needs to be checked or modified.



7. Upload the firmware with the upload button (right arrow in toolbar).

If you have a normal mega 2560 compatible board, you can use codeblocks for arduino instead of the arduino ide:

Open the Repetier.cbp file instead of the ino file and start with


I select the mega 2560 and then using the repetier.ino uploaded it using the right arrow. It went over find but then when the printer started the speaker was constantly on. I had to turn it off to get it to stop.

It may be the wrong display definition post a pic of the display and we can try and sort that bit as well? You can try the printer without it for testing purposes mind just unplug it?
