0.35 Ø versus 0.5 Ø nozzle

Hi guys,

Two exact the same reprap printers (i2) side by side and the one with the 0.5Ø nozzle gives us not the same surface quality as the one with the 0.35Ø nozzle. The one with the 0.35Ø nozzle gives us very smooth surfaces the one with the 0.5Ø nozzle not. Is this normal and why...?
Slic3r settings are correct, layer hight is the same.

Home made printers may have very different results. Depending of too many factors : build quality, components, settings... One nozzle can be dirty, on belt may not be as tight as the other. A cartridge may raise in temperature more quickly, two thermistors can measure different temperatures. My advice is to calibrate each machine to get the best possible print quality. Just don't expect to have exactly the same results from two different printers, especialy if they use different nozzle size. Just because they won't print parts in the same amount of time.

Think about the nozzle like a pencil. Do different thickness pencils draw the same ?

0.35 should always give a better quality, otherwhise it would be useless to go to a smaller nozzle
Are the nozzle`s/Hotends from the same type ?
what layerheight are you printing ?, any pictures of prints of both ?
