SOooo.... I've wrested with endstops for the past few days and I finally got the issues hammered out. The prefabbed endstops that came with the board were not configured for normal closed operation, but it nothing in the description indicated that this was the case, and the pretty LEDs that clicked on and off distracted me.
However, the exercise was worth while. I learned quite a bit about endstops.
something worth noting:
If you're operating a normal closed endstop on a RAMPS 1.4/1.3 board, you need to connect to signal and the "-" pin. "-" being common isn't explicitly stated in the wiki or really anywhere else.
If you're not a seasoned electrical engineer, knowing which pin is the right one to connect to might save a bit of time.
Now, I've seen quite abit about normal open vs normal closed endstops. Normal Closed provides the greatest safety margin, but the thing I'm wondering about is how often do normal closed have stray signals vs normal open. Filtering actually isn't a huge deal, but how often does it come up?
Also... finally how big is the pullup resistor? is there a standardized value? I didn't see it stated but i wasn't really looking super close.
