Is on youtube : u8gblib st7920

Look down in the description and you will see the section of code that worked with my lcd 12864
I am trying to reply to the youtube user , to ask him what change he did on marlin firmware.

I tried the code with one of the examples and the LCD works. I also tried with the Marlin software and it doesn't work.

I am sorry I bought the bigger graphics card because Folger doesn't have proven code for it and it is a PITA to get working. They should say that they don't support the product right on their web page.

Got the configuration.h from the youtube link.
[zeepromarket.com]
in there click here to download configuration.h and he use marlin 1.0.2 . well if this works we can find out what he changed.
I will test it as soon I get home.

Still it puzzles me!,
Just a quick one: did you un comment the SD support?
That changes all pins setting!
Mine I had to uncomment it before the Full graphic line!

PS: try from the scrap: load a fresh Marlin 1.0.2 without any modification to your printer
With only SD support and Full graphic line uncomented
And just try it bare bone ( arduino + RAMPS 1.4 + LCD)
Too many variable make troubleshooting harder.

The gentlemen who made his lcd worked added a bunch of lines into u8blib , I believe.
So by using his config, it won't do the trick!

Also, did you try it bare bone?
Also, it would help if you post your board front and back so people may recognize it!
The seller's photo sometime differ from your actual received product!

OK, solved the problem of the lcd. one of the cable its bad or the wired backward . i use an other cable from the lcd2004 that i just buy too and the lcd12864 works fine now smileys with beer .
first two image are with the right cables
[drive.google.com]
[drive.google.com]
[drive.google.com] this image as the cable damaged or wired wrong, if you look at Ramps the red strip goes the same side. on the good cable the red strip are away from each other.

now an other problem the Arduino board get to hot at voltage regulator. , any suggestion. i use 12.3vdc 5amp Led power supply to power up this board. should i remove the diode D1 or Not and power the arduino with a 5vdc.

Magnetos:

In your last picture the left cable has a twist in it. That would give you the wrong pin connections. I wonder if this untwisting has anything to do with the heat problem.

Can you please give us a copy of your configuration.h and any other file you changed??

hi , i just did a fresh restart, i uncomment the SD support and Discount Full Graphic Smart Controller only and now respond to my turning of the knob, one think i don't get it when i push the knob i see for a split second the boot up screen (Marlin version 1x.x.x with all spec) and then goes to the main info selection , i will insert some electric tape between the two LCD boards (LCD screen and knob/SD board), maybe some pin touch the second board., SD card works with LCD knob and with repitier-host software too.
i may need to adjust the servo voltage and speed true the firmware but the work fine. on the bad cable from what i see it look like they connect the ribbon backward at one connector side , that's why you see twisting.

I tried the ZeePro configuration.h file and I got all sorts of errors. Wrong mother board, missing boards.h file warning and then some things about serial ports in Marlin.h. I commented out the "#include boards.h" line and defined the MB as 33 but the serial stuff I have no clue.

I am still looking for a functional configuration.h file to make the !*!*** screen go.

One of the examples works so the screen and wires are in order I guess.

Any help is welcome and appreciated.

Is it always necessary to add a diode when connecting a LCD to a RAMPs board?? In his guide to connecting a Full Graphic Smart Controller, Tom doesn't mention anything about a diode.

The "ghost" image is normal! I get that too.
Unless some one comes up with a new coding to refresh the screen, I think it was done in purpose so the " Marlin" name us always Omni present!
I changed my boot up logo so I get my own staff!

@vanbot
No on mine, it is straight forward.
No diode add-on
It worked at third tried.

Thx for that. So I am sure is not some pin touching the back of the lcd when I push the knob down.
What about the voltage regulator of arduino. I have 2 of the mega 2560 and both start to get hot after few minutes.
I can't have something like that run for hours. Those thing will melt after an hours. Suggestions

It is recommended to run cooling fan for the boards!
It will keep both the stepper driver and electronics board cooler! Win win situation!
