Heatbed stalls @ 92c
May 29, 2015 01:43AM
Out of the blue my temp fluxuates between 90 and 92 when set to 100c. Used to go where ever I asked it. Power supply tanking? Melzi board dieing? It's the latest version. Abs not wanting to stick as well. Plexiglass I3. Thanks.

Now it's up to 97. Took about 15 minutes to gain 5 degrees.

Hey I'm up to 100 but took forever.

Bad contact somewhere causing voltage drop?
When I tried to get 100° fisrt time, I raised the voltage up to 14V because I was stuck at 90°. The last 10° took about 2 mins only!

After that test, my thermistor acted weird, sending false temps intermittendly. I found, that both wires to the thermistor had become unsoldered.

Where are you adjusting the voltage? PS or control board? Thanks.

I have a modified meanwell 350W PS. I can crank up the voltage beyond 14V.

Unfortunately, I also use this PSU to power a 12V halogen lamp. So I have to print in the dark, when using more than 12V. eye rolling smiley

My heatbed was taking about 1 hour to reach 105 C and soon I started printing the temp was going down, replaced the wires with 14 gauge wires and in 10 minutes is already 100C.

Thanks guys. Off to get some bigger wire.

Now I have the same problem but only after I updated the marlin version, soon reaches 94C stays there and would take at least 1 hour to reach that temperature, is not the wires so has to be Marlin the problem.

Check your thermistor value for the heated bed in Marlin.

I had to change the value from 6 to 1 on my configuration file

Where are thermistor values being changed? Gcode?

No I changed the value in the config.h file

#define TEMP_SENSOR_BED 1

I feel like a dork. Where is that file. As in Windows/ start/ run???

More like:
github/ search / Marlin smiling smiley
and
arduino.cc / download / ArduinoIDE

And it's actually Configuration.h . . . in the top of the Marlin source tree, editable with the Arduino tool kit.

So look where you chose to put Marlin, or let the tool take you to it.

Thanks. I'm not using Marlin. Another question, how the heck can I print hollow. I set Slic3r to 0% infill and it keeps filling. In Cura which I prefer, there is no way to eliminate infill. Been trying to print a spiral vase but can't get it hollow. Thanks. Brian.

Spiral Vase requires one perimeter, 0% infill, no solid top layers, no support material, and only a single object.

More generally, Solid Infill Threshold Area may mess you up if you're printing something with small cross-sections.

In Cura you have to open the expert mode and choose "black Magic" print. Don´t forget to deselect it next time, when you want infill eye rolling smiley
