I got bupkis...printer not responding to Repetier Host

So, I was going through the Folgertech config process and the first time through, I got to home the X axis and the Y axis. I moved the X axis and the Y axis, testing the controls. The Z axis was a bit of a problem, so I powered everything down, took the stop switch off, put it back on and powered everything up again.
Followed the process. Got to the home X axis part, and nothing?????? Tried Y axis..nothing?????
Board is on. Program loaded successfully. Fan is on. Stop switches leds light up when pressed...so what am I missing??? I'm new at this, but understand the process. The Manual Control page from RH, shows "Idle". I'm at a loss and would appreciate any help. Running version .95F of PH if that helps.

Did you home it (G28) first?

II keep getting "Access to the port 'COM4' is denied in version 1.56. But everywhere I look, everything is set to COM4???

Did you try unplugging the usb connector and plug it in again? This usually happens when you power down the printer without disconnecting in repetier.
