Guys,

I want to print a part,

Which one is stronger between nylon and carbon reinforced PLA ?
What's the positive and negative side between of two ?

Thanks

Search youtube for Tom sanders' video
He made an extensive rest on material strength

Hi guys,

I don't find any Tom Sanders video about 3d printing on youtube.

Are you refering to Thomas Salanderer plastic destruction test ?
As far as I remember it was about PLA vs ABS vs Bridge.

What kind of "strongest"? Depending on the use, I would say, either one.

do you reckon carbon inforced PLA is strong enough for a functional component ? for example a bicycle pedal ?...
thanks

I don't no enough on the subject to make a guess. Do the pedal have a shaft or is it self supporting?

Yes it has a shaft, a normal bicycle pedal...

Then I would guess it is possible but it will depend very much on the design being right for the material.

Hi guys,

Nylon is a resistant material, but it's soft an flex easily.
Taulman's Bridge is a Nylon composite and is more rigid.
I haven't try carbon reinforced PLA, I dunno if it's realy strong or not.
For a standard bike pedal I would use quality ABS with at last 50% infill, it should be strong enough.

Check out Tech2's vids, he tests Nylon Alloy 910.
