My printer has severe motor issues confused smiley

Hello

So I'm rather new to 3D printing and I tried to build my own cartesian style printer.
My current problem is that my motors somehow don't want to turn the way I'd want them to.
My two z motors are moving only in one direction and my x and y motors are turning radomly in any direction although all of them turn the right amount of steps I want.

I'm using a Ramps 1.4 - Mega combo and repetier firmware.
So far I've tried repetier host and pronterface but it seems that there was no major difference.

Any ideas? sad smiley

A random error can be anything from cold solder joints, loose contacts, badly crimped contacts aso.
Did you try to flash and run "Ramps-test"?

Start with one driver and stepper and move on from there.

so i've run ramps test on my board and somehow my motors didnt move so i tried a different kind of motor wich surprisigly moved flawless back and forth on every pin with every motor driver. This is really strange considering the fact that the motors were moving using repetier firmware.

I'm going to give marlin a try.

I'm going to give marlin a try.

I'd stay with the Ramps test and figure out why the steppers don't run with it.
Wrong firing order or bad crimp contacts are still possible.

What type of steppers? Got a model number or URL?

Not all steppers are equal.. Some have internal wiring that is not compatible with pololu drivers. I’m concerned you may have some of this type.
Easy way to tell is how many wires, 4 or 6 is good, 5 is bad

Another common fault is applying 5v to the 12v 5amp cct.... results in little or no motor movement.
