Connecting MK3 Heatbed
March 14, 2016 01:39PM
Hi,

My first printer is almost ready. Just need to install the heatbed. So i want to power it with 12V so the black wire has to be connected to 2 and 3, right? But where must the temperature sensor be connected?

Thank you very much.

Not an answer I'm afraid, but another question on the same topic. What rating should the wire be for the heated bed? How much currently does it typically draw?

I use 14ga. multistrand wire with silicone covering. 16ga is to small and 12ga is to big for most connectors. The Thermistor is usually mounted through a hole in the center of the heatbed. The double ground solder pads are for 12volt use. If running 24volts only one is grounded. Typical current draw for 12volt is 10.9 amps. (12 / 1.1(ohms) = 10.9 amps.) 1.1 ohms is typical resistance of the heatbed.

Yes, and that's my problem. My bed doesn't have a hole like most others. (More infos view the picture i sent in the first post) So where should i connect the temperature sensor?

Just use some kapton tape to hold it in position near the center.
