Support Question

Hey all, using support in Slic3r 1.2.9 is creating support on the outside of a flat surface where no support is needed. Also, setting the "Enforce Support For" X layers (60 in this case) still produces support all the way to the top. Assuming that Enforce Support means "only build supports for 60 layers". Anyone know how to correct these issues? Thanks.

You might have better luck in the slic3r section of the forum

[forums.reprap.org]

But I would guess there are faults in the model causing tiny holes which the support is trying to support the top of.

Is the model public? can you share the url?

The support up the side is how it gets into position to support the top surface of the through holes. It's usually a pain to remove. For functional parts I generally prefer to print without support and rely on bridging. There's usually some clean-up needed, but it's often easier than trying to remove the support. And it's much quicker to print without support.

Enforce isn't a limiter, it adds more support for the first n layers when support wouldn't normally be needed.
