Melzi board with external SD card slot

Hey there,

Is there any machine design on the internet that uses Melzi with an external SD card slot? On the schematics, SD_SS pin is connected to A0 pin of Atmega1284 which is inaccessible externally. So it sorta blocks the ways of using external SD card slot.

How do you mean: an external SD-slot?

I have a printer with a Melzi Ardentissimo with an SD card-slot and a USB-slot on it like:
