Installing the host software

I was wondering if anyone here had any tips on installing the reprap host software, if there were any arcain prosses or thing that are easy to forget as so far it has refused to intall for me.

That depends on what Operating System you're installing it under.

For Ubuntu, I used the ppa run by Johnathan Marsden. Seems to work fine so far.

So, What OS are you running? Linux (which one?), Windows (which one?) or Mac?

Make sure you have the right serial port checked, the right type of board (sanguino for motherboard, dicemilia for extruder at least that's what my boards are) and after you have fixed the configuration h. prefs compile the code, when it says done compiling upload to board. After you hit upload wait for it to say binary sketch size and immediately press the reset button on your motherboard just once and let go. It should start blinking a red light soon after to indicate the files are uploading. If not just wait and at the end it will say done uploading.
