First Printer problems!
June 11, 2016 01:33AM
I finished building my first designed printer and Im having some issues. Somehow my extruer is extruding plastic in a very crazy way. It over extrudes and under extrudes with a perfect spacing, I dont know how to properly explain it so I made a drawing and attached images.

flow drawing shows the problem.
flow2 image is a real picture
flow3 is the result of this problem in every print, perfectly spaced stripes (cool effect huh?)
Please, help!

Change the extruder motor current and that pattern will change/go away.

What sort of extruder is it? Can you see the drive gear/hobbed bolt when it's operating? If so, check that it turns smoothly throughout the extrusion and that the hobbed surface is concentric with the axle.

I had the exact same problem. I was told to adjust the tension on the extruder drive roller. Mine was not adjustable. I noticed the pattern was in sink with a growling noise from the motor. I turned the current down, and it went away. Since this didn't work for you, can you change the roller tension on yours?

I had a similar problem with an out-of-round hobbed bolt.
