PCB size and component size

I've never produced a pcb before, and I have no experience with smt parts, so I have some questions.

Is the mendel motherboard 3x4" or 4x6"? From the pdfs it seems like 4x6, but I wanted to be sure before I go mail-ordering parts.

I'm looking at different kits for pcb etching, and a youtube video recommended part #2113244 from jameco.com. Does that seem okay? (Aside from the fact that the boards included may be the wrong size.)

Also, I guess with surface mounting components, you need the right component size (See wiki article here). So what size am I supposed to use with the motherboard? Or the other pcbs for that matter?

For making the board yourself, I would definitely recommend going with RAMPS.
