Running ramps at 24v but not the bed.

I want to run ramps 1.4 at 24v but I don't want to run the bed at 24v according to This article I just put 24v 5a into both of the plugs on the 5a side and put 12v 11a on the 11a side for the bed. Will this work.
I have already desoldered diode d1 and checked the capacitors, my extruder and the extruder fan both run at 24v.
I am doing a ramps conversion of the xyzprinting da Vinci mini w, the power supply is a 24v 2.5a

24v and gnd vs 12v and gnd on the 5amp plug

You still need a method to generate 5v for the mega

So long as you've checked your capacitors, sounds like you're good to go.

I think that you could redirect D1 to a 12V source from the 11A input to power the Mega2560, probably easier to just make sure that it's plugged into USB, but I don't really like the idea of something that needs 3 power supplies. (2 is more than bad enough. I'd probably just want to run everything off of 24V myself.)
