Extruder cable dropping on belts..
April 18, 2018 03:24AM
Hi All,

I have built a coreXY printer with a build volume of 40x40x40. I'm using a bowden extruder. Due to the larger build volume the cable run (and bowden cable) towards the extruder flexes in a way it completely drops on the drive-belts.

Is there a solution available to prevent bending and does not affect movement? Like a steel spring or something?

Thanks!

Wouter.

Zip tie bowden tube in a few places to a length of 3mm nylon filament

I use a drag chain laid on its side in a large loop:

You can sort of see it better here:

I'm using direct extruder and filament feeds straight down from the top. Not sure how well this would work for a Bowden tube setup.

E3D was using spring steel cable ties for this purpose on their CoreXY tool changer at 3D Meetup Sweden last weekend. Possibly something like these [www.amazon.co.uk].
