heatend contantly clogged

heatend contantly clogged

I'm working on my reprap printer, but the heatend is contantly clogged. I reduced the printing temperature from 200 to 190 degrees and that helped a bit.

I tried to print Benchy and it almost succeeded. As you can in the picture the top of the chimney failed because the heatend was clogged.

On the same picture you see the piece of filament that was clogged in the heatend. The end looks like a corkscrew. My question is:

- is the pressure on the filament too high?
- Is the heat break insufficient. In other words: does the filament gets too hot too early and is too weak to be pushed

Hopefully someone can help me.

If that is how you got the filament out of the hotend you might be trying to push a 1.75mm filament through a 3mm hotend. The filament shouldn't be able to curl up like this so close to the heated part.

Maybe the PTFE part in the heatbrake is lost?

It looks to me as if your filament is not completely contained and is folding. Show a picture of the entry to your extruder and it's exit as well.
