SVN: Segement-pausing bug fix committed
January 10, 2008 11:43AM
Some new properties for you for the latest SVN:

Extruder0_ShortLength=1.5
Extruder0_ShortSpeed=1
Extruder1_ShortLength=1.5
Extruder1_ShortSpeed=1

Adrian's new code speeds up the nozzle for short segments. This work-around massively improves previous problems caused by segment-pausing (the pause between segments was causing a noticeable extrudate dump between short segments, over a radius for example. The new fast speed option evens things up a lot).

Temperature constraints for the extruder in GenericExtruder.setTemperature() have also been tightened from 10% & 20% to 3% & 6%.

Happy printing ;-)

Thanks, Ed!

It was inevitable... as soon as I released 0.8.3, someone would add a really significant fix to the host code :-) :-)

Thats why I am a fan of monthly builds. Just need somebody to do it though??

Host Software Release Frequency

Bruce,

The issue isn't so much the building, which is now highly
automated (I could build nightly and upload a .zip somewhere
from a cron job, if I wanted!). The time-consuming part is
that each release should be tested, and the original goal
(IIRC) was to have at least two core team members test and
validate a build on both Linux and Windows (and one person
on Mac) before releasing code "officially". People tend to
have higher expectations of a release than of code they have
grabbed from Subversion!

As we ramp up for a v1.0 Darwin release, I expect be doing
more frequent Host software releases, monthly is probably
about right at the moment. So, between now and when we
release Darwin v1.0, if I *don't* get one host software
release out per month, feel free to remind me :-)
