Ramps board tests - blue screen

I have just purchased a Ramps1.4 kit including LCD, 5x stepper drivers, Arduino Mega and LCD.

To my horror, the eBay vendor posted it all loose in just a plastic bag. No jiffy bag, let alone a box!

The Arduino Mega was damaged, but I borrowed another to do some tests.

The LCD could also be damaged, but I am not sure. After loading Marlin 1.9 on the Arduino Mega, I expected to see the menu on the LCD, but I just see a blank blue screen.

I think the Ramps board works as I can pulse motors over a serial connection.

Have I missed a configuration that enables the screen? My Config.h is attached.

If the screen doesn't work then I will send it all back.

regards
John

Looked through your Configuration.h file see you have not selected an LCD.

What LCD did you purchase.

And please post the details of the seller so others will know who to look out for!

Thanks for the quick response guys.

Activating REPRAP_DISCOUNT_SMART_CONTROLLER in Configuration.h has enabled the screen. Although it works, the screen has some hot pixels and the SD card reader is a bit battered.

The vendor was chwai33 . I must have been on the festive booze as 95.8% feedback is not that good. It did arrive very quickly though. Hopefully the refund will be smooth.

To be fair to the eBay seller, they sent out another parcel quickly with no quibble and didn't ask for the other one back. A good outcome as I now have a few spares.
