Hi, I have an Axis kit (mendel) from Botmill with Ramps 1.3 and Wade extruder, I have managed to get it working with Skeinforge 4.1 and using Repsnapper as the host, anyway to my problem :

When i print a hollow object everything is great, the part is printed as expected (using 3mm ABS) with pretty good quality but when i try to print anything solid it prints and fills the first layer then after the Z axis moves up for the next layer my nozzle scrapes along the layer thats just been printed, i've already destroyed 2 ptfe barriers because of this problem, can someone please help me save some money and get this 'Fill' problem solved ?

I am a newbie to 3D printing and the complicated Skeinforge so basic instructions would be a plus grinning smiley

Your flow rate is too high. When it is hollow all that happens is the wall is thicker than it should be. When the object is solid the extra plastic has nowhere to go.

I just changed rolls of PLA to a new roll of the same colour from the same source and the new roll seems to have different qualities, my fills went from being perfect to being too far apart on the solid surfaces. So I had to rejig my SF settings a real pain

Did you measure the diameter? I always measure it when I put a new reel on.

I have also found that diameter can vary sensibly within the same spool. Be sure to take several measurements, and adjust frequently that value in Skeinforge's Dimension tab.
Also check your width over thickness ratio for infill (in the "Fill" tab), shouldn't be too far from your perimeter width over thickness ratio (measured from single wall prints) ("Carve" tab).
