Thin walls on x-carriage

Hi folks,

It looks like the x-carriage has a design problem. Taken from here:

Please see the rendering in openscad here:

Note that the edge of the nut slot on the top side of the picture is very thin, it appears to be maybe 50 microns at the most.

Any thoughts on why this is happening? Do other people have this issue?

Thanks!

I wouldn't worry too much on the thin wall if it's not printed, the nut will still get locked into place though =)

Ah gotcha. It seemed to be a design flaw. Now my curiosity is piqued though. Does anyone print and use that x carriage? I've never seen a pic of anyone using it. When people use it, have they been concerned about the missing walls?

Thanks!

I don't know, I don't think they care much too though because there's a config file that will change the entire parts depending on layer height you want to print. Missing 1 side of wall are still ok, just don't exceed 2-3 else the nut will slide easily.

Or, you could try search my carriage on thingiverse, I modded the vanilla based, basically a vanilla based to have variable length of screw based on presets =)
