Any idea why my printer has started doing this?
October 27, 2016 12:59PM
My printers been printing fairly well for a while now, but all of a sudden it has started doing this on the bottom layer.
The bed is level, I could probably lower the nozzle slightly for the first layer but so far that hasnt helped and i've never had addhesion problems with the tape before.

The blue tape looks fairly hammered. Have you thought about replacing it?

Looks like it's not sticking maybe you need to get closer to the bed.

One thing that really helped me before I got my heated bed was hooked up was using hair spray. Just a few squirting and then rub it in with a paper towel.

I've got a heated bed, the blue tape is very securely attached, the heated bed is at 50 degrees and i've tried to so close to the bed that the extruder couldnt push filament out.

It could be variation in the tape surface properties.
This is just a painters tape. It has tolerances.

Maybe buy another brand? Or just switch to a new roll?

I'd recommend a glue stick for PLA. It is just so easy to print and when print cools down, it just pops off by itself.

I print PLA directly on to heated (57C) glass and have done so for about 18 months or more. I always clean the glass with WHITE vinegar and dry with a clean tissue before every print. I used to use Kapton tape but found this much better. Just leave the print until the bed cools down a little and it just falls off every time. Never touch the glass after cleaning and do it EVERY time. It works for me 100% of the time. I hope this helps.

Kind regards
