I must say the stories so far have made me hesitant about ordering from them in the future.

To their credit, their after sales service has been nothing short of impressive. It's unfortunate that China post mishandle packages so badly, but the fact they're so quick to organise replacement parts and are improving the components and packaging shows they're working on their shortcomings. I also bought the Replikeo kit because it was cheaper by a fair margin and had the expectation that there may be a few bugs to iron out.

While I'm yet to have a print on my Replikeo (still having difficulty getting the bed to an even surface), I'm not too far away now.

Well they have decided to let PayPal make the decision. They have stopped communicating with me and are taking the route of their going to do nothing. Spoke to PayPal this morning and they found in my favor. The only catch is I need to ship it back. Looks like I'm out original shipping cost for a 1.5 month pain. Be very wary of buying from them if you are considering it.

Lesson learned on my part. Now I have to find a good way to ship it back.

What date did you start using the packaging ?
I think it is a smart thing to tune into this forum because I have already made my order and awaiting delivery but if I had read this forum prior I would not have made any orders .

The other question is has anybody received and managed to build their kit ? What % have successfully had a shipment arrive and build ?

jprochnow - You sure you cant negotiate the parts broken to be sent ?

They don't appear to be unreasonable people ..
Sure it's F%^& that things aren't right but they can be made right .

I am sure replikeo want to make their customers loyal .. the alternative is go out of business

There are at least 4 ppl that build it and can print (Me, Trike, JonT, Tech2C). I have some good prints (you can find some photos in this topic) and some bad prints. Bad quality of some of my prints is due to bad calibration of my printer. I don´t have too much time now, so I will be fiddling with calibration maybe next week. Replikeo kit is standard quality kit, with normal components and good price. Packages are "little" damaged in shipping process, but only jprochnow had major problems. Also this kit is standard Prusa i3 rework, so you can always buy another components for it.

Today marks 4 weeks since I placed my order and the status on the two tracking websites hasn't changed in over two weeks. I emailed Replikeo Friday night (their time) and they said they'd check into it. Presumably I'll be hearing something in the next 12 hours. Hopefully my kit will be here any day now...

Yeah they were offering to send some replacement(printed) parts but they said that the bent frame was usable and wouldn't send a replacement. Right there I said its going back because they obviously don't care about the accuracy of the printer as the bend would have caused problems. Either way I shipped it this morning back to them. I wish you all the best in buying from them. If anyone asks me I would say to avoid buying from them at all costs.

@jprochnow I'm sorry you had that (bad) experience.

I finally received my kit this morning and it was well-packaged and everything appears intact.
I haven't gone through the inventory (BOM not included, really?!?) but it looks like everything is there and it good shape.

A few initial observations:
While the packaging was pretty good and kept everything intact and well-protected, with a little more tweaking their future customers will be much happier. For instance, they should wrap the rods in something rather than taping them in place (I'm still cleaning off the goo).
The power supply cable seems pretty wimpy.
The wires on the heat plate are wimpy and poorly soldered (and the insulation was burned through in one spot).
The printed parts look like they were created on the fastest possible setting and will need some attention/cleanup during assembly.

But any way you slice it I'm a happy camper! It took 4 weeks and a day from placing the order to receiving in upstate New York...

jprochnow: Are you sure that 1mm bend on X axis of frame will have some effect on prints? Because X carriage will be on straight rods (so it will always print straight line) and 90° angle between X and Y can be tuned via Y->Frame mount (even if your frame isn´t bend, you must tune this angle).

I just got the kit and everything looks ok so far. I got the new packaging and it doesn't appear that anything was damaged. I will try to put up pics in the next couple of days.

I have a question for those who have the kit : How did you attach the x end stop? The endstop supposedly attaches to the x idler using 2 screws - but they appear to get in the way of the plug - how did you guys get around it? Dremel? Or maybe I'm doing something wrong.
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Ok, solution for endstop problem found. Slide knife under the connector and bend it up. Then you can put screw under it.
I found it here [facebook.com]

Hi,

The first package I received by China Air was so damaged that I did not accept it from the postman. It was returned to China.
I contact Replikeo. They send me an another package by DHL. I received it yesterday (and I pay 50$ more). The package was intact, and everything was well packaged, thanks to Replikeo.

In conclusion, I have lost 1 month and 50$ choosing China Air transportation. Next time, I would prefer DHL at all. Replikeo/Paypal do their best to satisfy their customers.

This is how I did it. I used lower profile button head bolts. I just grabbed the connector and carefully pried it enough to fit the bolt under the connector.

Man... that sucks about all the shipping damage that's occurring. Although it seems like with the new packaging, things are getting better. Still almost seems like a roll of the dice, because it's going through china post. Roll the dice and that's how many times it will be ran over by a truck before it gets to you.

My package doesn't look like it was run over at all! Does your dice have a zero on it? winking smiley

I only have one broken part, the Z Endstop Holder, and I should be able to glue it and make it work.

I've got the mechanicals almost finished, I just have to build the extruder, then I can wire it up and see what I get! smiling smiley

Oh, and I don't know about you guys but I had to cut pretty much all of the screws that hold the motors. the 3M x 14mm screws were several mm too long...

Welcome to the party gadget_greg drinking smiley

Finally sorted a problem with misaligned perimeters. Turns out it was temperature shifts from the heatbed causing the entire print to rise and fall relative to the hotend. Configuring the PID for the heatbed fixed that issue.

So here are some happy prints, finally smiling bouncing smiley

Still waiting for the LCD+SD from ebay...

Ok, the lack of documentation is especially annoying when they depart from the norm.

Can anyone tell me the stepper motor's pinout? What color is what? And which way do I plug it into the RAMPS board?

Or is this configured in the firmware?

Also, how did you guys power the extruder fan? Do I have to solder that?

Great. I have like 900 errors compiling Marlin. :/
I always have trouble loading arduino libraries. It's like a mental block.
Re: My Replikeo Prusa i3 Rework Build
June 05, 2014 04:37AM
Motor pinout doesn't matter. In motor you have two coils, and on connector it is 1122 (1=coil 1, 2= coil 2). Just connect it and if your motor will go in reverse, turn connector on another side. Yes, fan must be soldered. You have pins for it ona Ramps. BTW did you read this [reprap.org] ? there is full manual how to build it.
Re: My Replikeo Prusa i3 Rework Build
June 05, 2014 10:10AM
Thanks Allnei. That's the build I've been following but there are some differences, like the wires.

I finally got the firmware to compile and although it says it's loaded, I'm not seeing anything on the LCD. Marlin is supposed to have full support for it and I'm pretty sure it's set right in the Confirguration.h by default. I guess I'll just keep pounding away at it, I'll figure it out. smiling smiley
Re: My Replikeo Prusa i3 Rework Build
June 05, 2014 11:19AM
I just checked Marlin and the LCD stuff is commented out by default. Goto line 496 in Configuration.h and uncomment your LCD type.

I received some green ABS today. Very happy with the results. I tried the Octopus, reduced to 75% size. Quite good, just need to tweak sli3er so no gaps appear in a few places.
The main wade gear has come up sensational! The more I print the more I'm hooked on this printer!

Hey Tech2C, that's interesting about using the PID for the heatbed. I might have to give that a try and see if it fixes my random alignment issues.
Re: My Replikeo Prusa i3 Rework Build
June 05, 2014 12:00PM
Thanks Tech2C! I've got the right one uncommented and I HAVE a display now! Time to go wire this bitch up! smiling smiley

Right now I'm carrying the Mega/Ramps back and forth to my PC but I'm going to be using a Raspberry Pi machine for programming later on. One thing at a time.

Can I change Configuration.h and Configuration_adv.h settings directly from the LCD do you know?
Re: My Replikeo Prusa i3 Rework Build
June 05, 2014 12:05PM
Going through the menus it looks like some of the settings in the config files are configurable from there. Presumably they'll survive rebooting the RAMPS.
