stepstick overheat
October 26, 2016 06:57AM
Hi
I just built my first prusa i3 (Geeetech) and have ramps 1/4 with drv8825 stepstick on the ext motor wich overheats.
I was told to turn the screw counter clockwise to reduce the heat... I did that and it still overheats...
any help would be appreciated

Get a multimeter and measure the voltage from top of the potentiometer and ground.
around 0.5V probably works. Maybe more, but that is a good starting point.

Add a cooling fan to stepper drivers / Whole RAMPS board.

The 8825 should have a small aluminum heat sink on it. Being warm or even hot is not a problem the whole little board is a heatsink and if it aint smoking and still working forget about it!
