As the title says, how can the files on the boards be upload to a PC, then edited?

you cannot take the running code on the controller and turn it back into source.

This is akin to trying to remove the raw ingredient from a cake

You need the original source code, or just start a fresh with latest firmware.

Thanks for replying.
OK, the post was not worded correctly.
How can the Ramps 1.4 firmware be uploaded to a PC? I did this a couple of years ago before getting the Tronxy.

You can only read out the eeprom settings via pronterface or other terminal. That will allow you to copy/paste the most important parameters into a .txt file.
The command ( IIRC) is M503.
