Z-axis home

Good day all,
I have a Prusa i3 variant. The z-axis has a end stop mounted on a servo which I use for the bed leveling sequence before printing. I use repetier host for printer control.
When I home x,y & z axis or just the z-axis for that matter the z-axis moves up and stops and everytime I home the it after this it just keeps moving up.

I would have thought that if I home the z-axis it will move the end stop down and the axis will move down until it stops on the hotbed. This does not happen.

Has anyone encountered this issue and do you perhaps know how to fix it?

reprap is not smart.... you need to manually deploy the probe with gcode

M401:_Lower_z-probe
M402:_Raise_z-probe


this is normally added to a start.gcode of something similar

Thank you for the feedback.
During the bed leveling sequence this does happen but not during homing. Does this mean that I need a home sequence if I want to home the z-axis? If so, how would this sequence look like?
