Thats cool . .have you printed all the parts? keep me posted . .

Have not started printing yet, Finishing off my mendelmax first.

Also sadly the rods and pulleys and belts are all back ordered, vxb tells me it could be several months for the rods

Also cant get the ptfe tube... available from mcmasters (the rotters who wont ship outside of the US) But will work on that when I have the delta moving, also wanting to try a 3mm bowden as 1.75mm is just to expensive!

There are companies where for a small fee you ship to them in the states and they on send, can't remember the name of one I have used before at the moment let me think on it a while

Why not get the rod locally 8mm rod is available quite cheap from places such as tata steel, they are in Nelson and Christchurch it's where I go

Because I want decent, ground, hardened and chrome plated steel at an affordable price.

I used 216 8mm stainless steel from steels and tubes. . And they worked out alright on my prusa build . .i plan to use the same when i start on the delta robot . . .might use 10 mm though

teflon tube sorted (for those planning on using 3mm )

Some people may want a larger internal diameter, but so far all 3mm PLA from Diamondage has been around 2.75, so thats lot of clearance in my books.
This supplier has other diameters...

I use myus.com to source gear from the US. Not the cheapest way to do it i'm sure but havent had any problems to date.

I will be ordering 1.75mm tube from mcmasters when I have the steppers running, happy to order extra if people need it.

Can someone point me to a person/company that will print the parts for the rostock here in NZ?? Happy to pay.

Cheers

Cool to see other NZ'ers are making Rostocks too. My delta 3D printer will be my first 3D printer so I'm having to make it on my CNC machine. It means I have to make the platform and carriages in a sort of long winded way but I think it should work out well.

Dust I was hoping you could tell me where you managed to find the teflon tube?

Check out my delta printer and see what you think!

Hi joshendy

Ive seen your blog before, and wanted to ask you questions about your CNC, like what exactly is that piece of steal you run your bearing on?

My teflon tube came from e-bay this store [stores.ebay.com] search for "teflon tube"

Awesome thanks for the link. My CNC router uses cncrouterparts' linear carriages and they run on 1/4" or 6mm cold rolled steel. It's important it is cold rolled because it has a more even thickness than hot rolled or normal steel. My 6mm thickness cold rolled steel only cost me around $80 here in Wellington from Acme Engineering.

My rostock has hit a snag...

The modified marlin firmware doesn't seem to want to work correctly on a Sanguinololu 1.3a

In particular the temperature reads 200C when it only 20C. Normal Marlin and Sprinter both read 20C...

Im suspecting something weird like a variable overflow... as the tempurature reading code is the same.

Might not be relevant but what atmega chip are u using on the sanguino board dust?
Re: rostock delta robot

its a standard 644p, the code does fit in 64k, if you don't enable LCD support.

I'm going to have a crack at one of these. Based in Massey, West Auckland.
Looks easire to make than some of the other reprap designs.

Update about Rostock Firmware on Sanguinololu, basically it needs a 1284p chip

More details [dustsreprap.blogspot.co.nz]

And since I now have the Firmware sorted, the rostock took its first moves today

I'm building a Rostock here in West Auckland.
In the collecting the pieces phase.
So far I've ordered most of the hardware type bits.
Still to decide:
Type of extruder
Material for base
Where to get printed parts made.

All very exciting

Hi there,

I might be able to help you with the extrusions. Have a look at my thread on Openbeam

I would be very interested in seeing a Rostock being built with it. Also have a talk with Josh from [www.joshendy.net].

I am helping him with his Rostock build. He is very talented maker!!!
