I am planning to do a prototyping run on a 12"x12" heated bed . . singe layer board, 1.6mm/2.0mm FR-4, HASL lead free,1oz, two sided blue mask, white silkscreen .. This board is base on the mk1 design . .any takers? Was planning to use it on a rostock and a mendel90 build. .post here if interested. . .thanks

Interested, although I am not local to you (France).
I'm planning to build an oversized Prism sooner or later, this would fit it quite nice.

Most of my technical comments should be correct, but is THIS one ?
Anyway, as a rule of thumb, always double check what people write.

I'll be looking for one for my Mendel90 build in due course. What was different between the mk1 and mk2?

Not 100% sure but i think it the mounting of the thermosistor.

You are right, there is a central hole for the thermisitor, also the copper lands where the wires attach have been beefed up. I'll do a measure, I might be interesed in one as well.

You guys recon it will be worth doing the 12"x12" based on the mk2 rather than mk1?

May as well use the Mk2 design. the extra pad size is an improvement. Another possibility would be to create two lines from the centre thermistor out to the edge to carry the thermistor wiring. Looking at the board this seems possible. It is a double sided board with through hole plating. Mount the thermistor on the underside and carry the signal on the top.

Yes I'm interested. Not sure if it is possible but it would be handy if it can be designed so that it can be trimmed to size as there would be a lot of people wanting 250x250 or 200x300 as well as 300x300 I would imagine.

It will be difficult for the board to be trimmable . .but will consider the other board size in future pcb runs . .im pcb craaazy at the moment learning the eagle software . .i want to make them as cheap as possible so that it will not be too much a burden in the pocket for the first time builder . . .thats why i am inclined to make the mk1 as my first run . .single sided cheaper raw material . .will do a bit of reasearch on the other heated bed designs and see if they are viable for my limited budget at the moment . . .

Well let us know when they are available, I am working on a new printer at the moment I would like to use these with.

Definately . .will post here when i have tested the boards. .probably mod next week . .time forgiving that is ..

I'm definitely interested too. I've got a Rostock delta printer nearly ready with >10"x10" build area and only 8x8 bed.

So had a bit of extra time to continue woth the board layout . .as i processed the output file for the pcb . .i could only enlarge the outline of the board . .so om stuck at this design now . .i was thinking of manually extending and resizing the whole .brd file . .which would take forever . .with my current skill with the software . .will update soon . .

i was trying to adjust the size of the mk2 or even mk3 board on eagle, but really could not coz i was using evaluation copy. so i tries tlalalexanders heatbed generator which worked out ok. the processor measured the resistance of the board @ 1.4ohm, but wouldn't really know unless i make one. still a work in progress as i still need to add led mounts, and i like the mk3 design on smd thermosistor. so will try to add that too.

it does not have a name yet. so i call it " "

also got to do a prototyping run on the mk3, will test next week, its interesting to test the surface mounted thermosistor on this. sadly its still 214x214, good for a standard reprap build, but i really need a bigger heatbed for the echorap im building. and for the mendel and the rostcok....too many projects too little time and funds...hehehe

will update soon...

Any update for the 300x300 PCB heat bed?

I need one.

Thank you

I have abandoned the project as it was too expensive to produce for my limited funds . .but, one avenue to look at would be silicone heated pads if you're real keen on a bigger HB build area.

Silicone pads

I havent tried them myself. If you do, please post back. .

I would love to have a 300mm x 300mm heated bed.... what/where can it be found? jack@heritagesonline.com
would plan to build a larger 3D printer.....I've built 2 Prusa3 models & want get larger, to print a helicopter....

I've just ordered one of these AliExpress.
The plan is to stick it to a piece of glass, I asked them to make it 250W 12volt and include a 100k thermistor in the pad. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Did it arrive OK?

Yes and it looks great, 12" diameter and integral thermister just as ordered. I need to build the printer to take it first and that is taking a bit longer smiling smiley

Hi All,
SelfMade for RepMan 3.1DH. Bit less than you discuss, but it works fine. 270*220mm. Unfortunately thickness of cupper is little bit various through the surface. Resistance is about 1.1Ohm - I expected bit less.

Finally it looks like

Printing ABS, bed temperature ~108C (lack of copper thickness variations)

Any questions?

SergeyA
