There seems to be a lot written about the Ramps D1 diode and whether its needed or not. It's a bit confusing
I am going to power my Ramps 1.4 from a PC power supply. I assume I ONLY connect the 12v output from the PS to both the input terminals (5A and 11A) on the Ramps board. I will be using my Laptop to connect up to the Arduino board.
Do I need D1 or not?

Have you had a read on ramps 1.3 assembly? The d1 is explained there too . .you only need it if you are going to use SD ramps or the likes. .

If you are going to run your printer connected to your laptop . .you don't need to install this . .but I install both the diodes anyway . .
