Is everyone down there all right?

I noticed there was a lot of damage, but no loss of life. Did any of you suffer any damage yourself?

I think most of the kiwi reprappers I've seen posting are based in the North Island (as I am). We were pretty lucky it happened at the time of night that it did -- if it were in the middle of the day with more people around the CBD there would have been a lot more injuries.

Long time reader, first time poster.

My repstrap (about 50% complete) got damaged in the earthquake

It was on the floor in the garage and the liquefaction flooded in and all the doors got jammed shut (due to warping frame).

I couldn't get in there quick enough to stop stuff rusting!

Haven't touched it since I think I'll just throw it away and start on a Mendel.

Can you post a photo of it, be good to see how you went about it?

Mine is still a work in progress, and is no longer an experiment to see how easy for a complete noob to build one with locally available parts like old scanners.

I'll be working on the Y axis over Christmas.

Like you, if anything happened to my RepStrap, i'll just biff it, and just aqquire mendel parts.

Vik should be back from his UK visit sometime soon, so you could fling him an email to see if he can print you a set of parts.

I've got some photos somewhere I could dig out, it's not really a Reprap, it was going to be a CNC router that I was going to put an extruder head onto it to print Reprap parts.

Are people (Vik) building Prusa Mendel's or 'Ed' Mendels?

I will be building Ed's Mendel when I get my RepStrap built.
