[STRANGE] echoEBUG: ?p??????a?@??

Hello,

Configuration:

• Controller: Arduino + RAMPS 1.4
• Firmware: #define SHORT_BUILD_VERSION "1.1.0-RC5"
• Direct USB prints (for years)
• No limit switches. All soft limited. Since...ever.

after several successfull prints with #define SHORT_BUILD_VERSION "1.1.0-RC5" I wonder what this strange debug message wants to tell me.
It has been there since I have flashed the firmware but the prints work fine. Although I am getting "thermal runaway protection" halts more often after I have switched from a Teensylu to an Arduino + Ramps 1.4. I've already set the protection values to four times the default values (40sec/4°C for extruder). Thermistor is "sealed" off inside the alu heating block with thermal grease. Never had that issue with Teensylu with which I used "always on" fan for printed parts. Now I have switched to auto fan control with a max value of 70% using a radial fan and getting these protectio triggers. I am not sure if that has something to do with the strange debug output posted below.

But back to topic:
What is this??

I tried different baudrates in the firmware and uploaded them without improvement (250000;115200)
