In Marlin 1.1.8 selected menu item is marked only by 2 thin lines above and below, at least on my Anet A6. Anyone know if there is some sort of editable setting to make the selected menu item appear in negative? To be more obvious, especially looking from the side of the LCD?

I believe what your looking for is

#define MENU_HOLLOW_FRAME in Configuration_adv.h
to disable it prefix it with //
