How to update Marlin

Hi, I am fairly new to Marlin and Arduino in general.
I have a Ramps 1.4 with BLTouch and TMC2130 drivers that I have finally gotten to work with a lot of help from the community (THANKS).

Well I am running Marlin "bugfix 1.1.x" and it appears that I should move to "Marlin-bf1_fix_smart_drivers" and I have downloaded and extracted into a new folder.


Is there a way to get the configuration.h and configuration.adv.h that I have developed using bugfix 1.1.x into the newer Marlin version without editing the new config.h & config.adv.h files line by line?

Doesn't seem so.
It is why you better document all the changes you make to avoid future frustration (even if you plan to retire your board, you never know ! ).
