G29 explanation please
June 16, 2016 11:47PM
Hi I have been running on a Kossel G28 then G29.
All that I get after G29 is a heap of numbers but nothing about it compensating for a uneven bed like I have seen on others posts.
3.03 3.28 3.35 3.34 3.29 3.17 3.04 2.75 2.46
3.08 3.23 3.39 3.42 3.40 3.30 3.09 2.89 2.63
3.21 3.34 3.43 3.50 3.50 3.44 3.31 3.09 2.87
3.32 3.46 3.60 3.67 3.71 3.66 3.55 3.39 3.17
3.42 3.58 3.74 3.82 3.86 3.82 3.77 3.65 3.48
3.56 3.72 3.87 3.95 3.93 3.95 3.93 3.85 3.72
3.70 3.79 3.89 3.96 3.95 3.94 3.97 3.93 3.93
3.79 3.84 3.89 3.94 3.89 3.87 3.90 3.89 3.93
3.87 3.89 3.88 3.76 3.68 3.69 3.79 3.85 3.92

Is it compensating or just measuring?
Sorry I have no idea at the moment.
regards Pete

There are three different flavors of Bed Leveling. First, we need to know which version you have turned on. And presumably, you are running RCBugFix, right? That is the easiest for us to support.

Hi Roxy thanks for the reply, I'm running RC6. My delta is using the grid levelling.. But sorry I'm not aware if there is another method apart from the manual level that I done when setting up the endstops.
The print is always fading away due to the nozzle being too close in same places. The stupid thing is that even if I manually adjust by lowering the corner of the bed before print it will compensate next print by lowering the
nozzle against the bed again lol.

You are most likely fighting a Delta Calibration issue and not an Auto Bed Leveling issue. You can use M665 to fine tune and adjust some of the parameters causing the problem.

I attached a couple of files I used to calibrate my Delta.

The StarBurst is useful to see where you have a problem. You will most likely see a shape to the deformed print. Most likely pointing at one of the towers. It is helpful to identify what you are fighting.

I also attached a Delta Calibration command (G27) that I'm going to be including in the Unified Bed Leveling code. It allows you to probe different geometries of the Delta and identify which parameter you need to adjust. It maybe too much work to get it to compile into your Marlin but if you are patient, as soon as we do the Golden Release and have a Stable Branch we will have a Development Branch for Unified Bed Leveling with this in it. (And the M665 command will be getting some extra Delta parameters you can adjust too. Things will get better for you very soon.)

Thanks Roxy, I cant wait for the new release to be finished. I have gotten my prints to be uniform and precise with slight adjustments using the Delta Diagonal Rod trim.
But unfortunately even a 20mm cube digs in on the corner even though it is accurate to 0.05mm. I have shimmed up all the ball links at the Carriages to get them uniform as well as at the effector.
But I am using the effector that pushes the nozzle to activate the z switch.

Might try printing a standard effector and setting that up.
Once again thanks for Replying.

Delta's are very sensitive to measurement errors and mis-matches in rod length. It sounds like you will benefit from the extra Delta configuration parameters that we are adding to M665.

I need all the help I can get lol. The deltas are definitely fiddly. I have made up a rod length Jig and have adjusted all the rods to be perpendicular and has helped heaps.
My print is a bit skewed by a smidgen (technical term) . I am not shore which rod length trim to adjust, as I'm chasing my tail. I just thought that I would need to give tower 2 a negative value, to stretch that corner out?
I started adjusting but it changed the other dimensions and it turned into a cat and mouse game with adjusting one only to find another that needed to adjust lol
I hope you can see by the pic what I mean.
Regards Pete

What did the StarBurst look like when it was printed? Can you post a picture of that with it still stuck to the print bed?
