4 motors for axis Z

4 motors for axis Z

Hi!
I am using arduino mega + ramps 1.4
The problem is i need 4 motors for table on axis Z. How do i do this?

... one big/strong motor and 4 threads would be better ... or a "slave"-Arduino, receiving the STEP+DIR impulses and controlling the 4 steppers on its own ...

If you want 4 Independent Z Steppers the Best Way to do that is getting a Duet Board + Stepper Expansion Board.
everything is possible if you want :-)

Probably not the answer you want but, the BTT SKR E3 mini v2 board has a port for a 2nd Z axis motor, and Banggood.com sells split harness for the Z axis (you can run 2 motors from a single port). So in theory, you could run 4 motors that way.

You can just use 2 splitters I guess. The current from one driver will be split 4 ways however. If the driver is supplying one amp each stepper will get 250 ma. I think you would be better off buying a more capable board with an extra stepper driver and splitting those.
