YB2004D screen is on, but doesn't display anything

I'm using an anycubic i3 mega, with a YB2004D as a display/sd module

googling, I found out (on this forum), that it is apparently a "REPRAP_DISCOUNT_SMART_CONTROLLER"

but I don't know about that


under the link there is zip file, there's a folder with a video on how the display looks like and the marlin build

Its not a REPRAP_DISCOUNT_SMART_CONTROLLER
They look like this

and the back

please take some clear photos of your LCD, both side

My guess is its functionally similar but differ pins

the chip that's closer to the exp2 socket (and c8 resistor?) is a AMS1117 3.3 H712KLE [imgur.com]

while the chip that's closer to the 16 pinholes(and c9 resistor?) is a 74HC4050D NXP CKW14104 FnD1616B

From the top of the screen you can see
DB7, DB6, DB5, DB4, DB3, DB2, DB1, DB0, E, RW., RS, V0, VDD, VSS these are the standard LCD pins

On the circuit diagram you can see

EXP1        1     2     3     4     5     6     7     8     9    10
            +5v   Gnd   DB7   DB6   DB5   DB4   RS    E     ?     ?          (? is unreadable)
expected    +5v   Gnd   DB7   DB6   DB5   DB4   RS    E     enc   BEEPER


This seem to match what is expected by a REPRAP_DISCOUNT_SMART_CONTROLLER electrically.

This happened to me.

I found several ways to correct.



The easiest is to carefully remove the plastic Key rotate it 180 degrees and replace by carefully skidding it back over the pins.
The hardest is to remake the cables like I did in to attached photo by inverting the cable on one side.


The least desirable way was to force the key between the plastic shown in this horribly focused photo.
This is how I determined that I was indeed correct that the pins were reversed before purchasing material to fix the problem or reversing the plastic shell on Display board.

I'm sorry I don't understand, which one of the 4 connectors heads did you inverted?

Both the connectors in top most photo this is the new LCD from BIgTree the Next photo down is my original controller from Hictop a 2004 LCD,
I think hictop 2004 LCD is a clone of the RepRap Smart controller. THe hictop 2004 LCD also has right angle Connectors.

Look at the Red Cable wire and note which side it is on.
You will also note the both connectors on the big tree controller are the opposite of the 2004 LCD Hictop contoller

Any way this is what I had to do to fix the problem, Sorry also missed a little on my first post and correct before your last post.

I tried, it doesn't turn on

maybe is my marlin build that's misconfigured?

though, the reason that I wanted to put thet screen is that the original display doesn't even turn on, initially when touching the touch, it would make beeps, now it won't either do that anymore

previously it did work fine though, but once that I did change the psu, problems with the display did appear

besides that the hotends and their temp sensors do missbehave

the yb2004d previously did work (with another board/printer)

if you're referring to the one button switch, then when pressing it, it seems that it does nothing

On the back of your LCD there is a contrast control potentiometer turning it will adjust the LCD contrast.

still nothing, same stuff, but the wite squares do fade away or get more intense

Then if you post your Marlin configuration file to a share like google drive and post a link.
I would take a look at your configuration, an may spot a configuration error...

I'm sorry here is the full unzipped root under a mega link

and here is the zip under a mega link

(the zip and the not zipped thing, are the same thing)

the wetransfer download seems to work, while the anonfile seems to have been corrupted...

for now, wetransfer and mega links seems to work... idk
