Duet file upload speeds over web interface

I did some measurements on file upload speeds using various SD cards and two firmware versions. Here are my results:

These figures demonstrate how much the upload speed depends on the SD card, and the effect of the improvements I made in release 1.12.

There was some variability, so all speeds listed here are best of three uploading a 10Mb file.

The 4Gb Sandisk card came from T3P3 and I believe it is the card they are currently shipping with Duet 0.8.5 boards. The 16Gb Sandisk card is this one [www.amazon.co.uk] and the 4Gb Kingston card is this one [www.amazon.co.uk].

Anyone who is getting better than 1Mb/sec on a 10Mb or larger file upload, please let us know!

I am getting around the 899-960 mark using a Sandisk 8Gb card Class 10 (from Tescos) on a 22.7 Mb file on a 0.6 board.

It has more than doubled the upload speed I was seeing with 1.09r which was the last version I had been using now on 1.12a.

Easily hitting the 950 Kib mark just take an ocasional Glitch which drops it down to the 880 sort of mark but it then recovers up again.

What file system / sector size are you guys using on your sd card?

I format the cards with the largest cluster size available. For the 2Gb cards this is FAT16 with 64Kb clusters. For the larger cards it is FAT32 with 32Kb clusters. Sector size is always 512b.
