New PanelDue firmware 1.14
June 12, 2016 04:29AM
I have released new PanelDue firmware at [github.com]. The changes in this release are:

- Implemented alert messages (M117)
- Added new state for firmware update
- Added ':' key to keyboard
- Close buttons are now always placed in the top right hand corner of the window
- Layer height is now displayed to 2 decimal places
- Icons are inverted correctly when the Invert Display option is used

I have also released a new version of iap.bin at [github.com]. This version sends firmware update progress messages to PanelDue.

What is the difference between iap.bin and iap4e.bin?

Iap4e.bin is the version for the Duet WiFi.

Thanks. How does one dismiss the message after it is displayed with M117? I press the x (close) button but the message reappears again. I invoked it from DWC g-code console.

Thank you - I am looking forward to the update!

Unfortunately I just tried to update following the procedure and it displayed a "touch the sp..." where I couldn't see the spot and so it hung. I use the 4.3" Think3DPrint3D screen.

I imagine I have to adjust the expected screen size somewhere - could you please point as to how to do this to get it working with this screen?

Thank you

Did you load the correct version of firmware? There are various versions for each supported screen size.

Sorry but thank you very much for taking the time to answer - you're absolutely correct... I overlooked the different screensizes and simply scrolled all the way down...

You will need to upgrade the Duet firmware to 1.13 to fix that.

Thanks, I'll just wait until 1.13 is released. Currently I'm on 1.13beta1

Oops, I thought the fix to M117 was already in 1.13beta1. I've put a preview of 1.13 release at [dl.dropboxusercontent.com]. I need to do so me more tests on the new features before I release it.

V1.14 works well with the 7" display I got from here

Don't forget to do the 5V wire link mod if you have the version 1.0 PCB, and move the link to 5V position.

I'm very pleased, thanks David.

[miscsolutions.wordpress.com].

Yes you need the link, however you must put the jumper in the 3.3V position, because the main supply (not the backlight supply) is 3.3V for the 7" display, just as it is for all the other non-Itead displays.

With the link in the 3.3v position, I got a noisy display with horizontal line jitter.
With the link in the 5v position, the display is crisp.

I'll put a scope on the supply and see if it's noisy, and maybe fit a cap here and there.

You might like to check the legend on the display PCB by the 40-pin connector. The bottom left pin is marked Gnd and the one above that is usually marked 3.3V. That's the one that the voltage selection jumper feeds. I guess there may be a 7" display variant that takes 5V on that pin, but if so then I would expect the pin to be marked 5V instead of 3.3V.

You could also measure the voltage on the jumper to check that the regulator really is supplying 3.3V.

HTH David

PS also check that you fitted the link wire to the underside of the 5V pin on the voltage selection jumper, not the centre pin or the 3.3V pin.

Does anyone know if the Duet 0.6 (as supplied with the Fisher) can supply the 650ma power needed to drive the 7" display?

Yes it can, assuming you have the onboard 5V switching regulator enabled.
