Duet Ethernet SD Card not Recognized
November 26, 2017 05:41PM
I'm commissioning the board and as best I can tell the SD card slot is not working. I can read the SD card when directly connected to the PC and all the files seem to be there . M122 shows no SD card detected. I tried a different SD card with the same result. I added a gcode file to the gcode folder and ran M20 and it can back empty. I can connect to the board via USB through simplify3d or Arduino Serial Connect. with the Ethernet cable connected I can get an IP address but I cannot access the Web Control. With the USB connected the 5v & 3.3v leds are lighted. Not sure what else to try?

I pulled the board from the printer and plugged in the USB with the board on the bench. Nothing, it would not show up in device manager. I noticed the USB powered hub was not showing a connection for that cable so I plugged the USB cable directly into the PC. It now shows up in the device manger. I plugged in the network cable and queried the router for the IP address which it returned. I am now able to access the the web control and the files on the SD card. Not sure what happened. I will start plugging things in one at a time and see what happens.

If M122 says the SD card is not detected, that probably means one of two things:

1. The SD card is not fully inserted. There should be a faint click when you push it in, and you should have to push it in again to release it.

2. The CD pin of the SD card socket is not making good contact with the PCB due to a poor soldered joint. If this is the case, the problem may be intermittent. Looking into the front of the socket, this joint is the one on the back left corner. If that joint doesn't look good, ask your supplier to replace the Duet.

Thank you for the response. I have the board working. It did not play nice when the USB and Ethernet cables were attached at the same time and under 24v power. Once the configuration files were setup and the board rebooted under just USB power it started working.

That could indicate a USB ground loop problem. See [duet3d.com].
